History of John Grant & The Western Revue

Country Western music fans and crowds at rodeo dances in Central Oregon have known his band as “Big John and the Rednecks.” In 2005, the name of the band was changed to “John Grant and the Western Revue.”

Ever since he received his first PanAmerican guitar and instruction book from his grandfather at age seven, he’s been on the trail to success. John’s first debut was in sixth grade, singing and playing “Ghost Riders in the Sky.” John’s music was influenced by country artists such as Merle Haggard, Marty Robbins, Bob Wills, Sons of the Pioneers, Hank Williams, Waylon Jennings, Buck Owens, and Ian Tyson.

In addition to singing and playing the guitar and fiddle, he writes many of the songs his band plays. John wrote most of the songs on his first album, Fate of a Rodeo Cowboy, released in 1981 by CIS Northwest. He and his wife, Suzanne, also produced and recorded a second album called Cowboy’s Paradise in 1987. All ten songs on the album are John’s original tunes.

In his free time, he helps his wife on their ranch, raising around 16 horses, 4 dogs, and a cat, as well as two young boys, Joe, 15, and Ross, 9. If you would like to see a few of his horses that are for sale, click here.
